Bumblebee Cake

I am sorry I havn't blogged in forever, but I have been super busy and I havn't even made that many cakes lately. I did make a cake for Madison in May and it turned out super cute. I made it in about two hours on a Sunday after church so it really turned out not so great as I was picturing. I really need to slow down and get back into making them the right way!

"OH, Cute!"

The other night Trista and Charlie were out of town to the valley and I was watching Madison. The family wanted a little treat so I decided to make brownies because they are fast and easy. Of coarse Madison wanted to help so we pulled up a chair. There wasn't much I could let a 2 year old do so I let her stir for a while. She had a blast. I was so cute I had to get the camera. When I came back she had the mix up her sleeve. When I told her to get a picture she made the funniest face and wouldn't take another one that looked more normal. (When you see the picture you may agree.) When I showed her it, thinking she would change her mind she just said "OH, Cute!" My attempt to get a normal picture failed, but I ended up loving this one anyway and still when I show her the picture she just says, "OH, Cute!"

Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies

I just made my family peanut butter recipe and rolled them into balls and rolled them in sugar. Once the cookies have baked and cooled you melt your chocolate bar. I used a Double Chocolate Melting Bar from Gharardelli. You can use a double broiler or make your own using a metal or oven safe glass bowl. You dipped one half of the cookie in the chocolate and place it on wax or parchment paper. You can also just drizzle the cookie with the chocolate or leave them undipped. Before you place them on the wax paper you rool them in chopped paenuts. You can chop your own or buy them chopped at the store. Leave them on the wax paper until you can peel them off without any of the chocolate sticking so about 45 min. The drizzled dry much faster. They are a beautiful cookie that taste wonderful. This is a way to make your cookies gormet. I hope you enjoy them.

THE PIG CAKE!!

This cake was amazingly fun to make! I had a blast doing it. I was a cream cheese pound cake and a chocolate cake. The lags and snout were made from cup cakes and the rest is history! This cake had so many things that I just loved about it. I hope you all like it as well as I did. I hope that Karen liked it that much too. These pictures are also thanks to Rikki. I will have more to post in a couple of days.

The Tasty Cake

I made this cake just for taste, not one of my pretty, stressful cakes. I was in Texas this christmas and I was showing my grandpa my cakes. He said that he would love a german chocolate cake. I went to the store and got the stuff and we made an awesome, three tier german chocolate cake. I put cherrys on top and it looked just as good as it tasted. I enjoyed getting to make a cake just for him, since I don't get to see him much. I think that he would have liked it no matter what it looked or tasted like. I think that this was one of my favorite cakes, just becasue I got to make it for my wonderful grandpa. Love Ya Grandad Joe!

ButterSCREAM!

This is Mylee with the cake!

This was my first buttercream cake and I do have to say that it was one of the hardest that I did. I have heard people say that the fondant is so much harder. I must have to say that I disagree. I think that the fondant is a piece of cake, HAHAHA get it! Anyway enough of my lame jokes. I made this cake as a sale also. It was for my friend Rikki's baby Mylee. She is so cute and this cake was perfect for her. It was a monkey cake and after it was done I was very glad that I had done it. It was great experience for me to have, it helped me with my pipping skills. Needless to say they weren't that great and they still aren't, I am really practicing. At first I thought that they cake was going to be a complete failure, but the further I worked on the cake the cutter it became. I ended up loving this cake, though many things in the process went wrong. This cake was truly a learning experience and I hope that I have many more oppurtunities to make buttercream cakes. I do have to say that I will be sticking mostly with the fondant thing, but at least I will know how to make the buttercream. If you like monkeys than you will love this cake. I think that it was a wonderful idea.
P.S. Thank You Rikki for the pictures, I forgot to get some with my camera so I only have them on my phone!

A CAKE MADE BY ME, FOR ME!

I made this cake for . . . my birthday. Yes I know that it is kinda wierd that you would make your own birthday cake, but I knew just what I wanted for a cake and I knew that I would be able to make it. I made it really fast acctually. I just covered it with the white fondant and them cut the black stripes and made the pink bow. The black was hard to color, but there wasn't much needed so it wasn't too bad. The pink went fast and the bow was one of the best that I have made for my cakes. I loved the cake and if you know me then you know that I love the zebra stripes. The middle was just a mix with simple frosting so I won't say that it was the best tasting, but that is becase my party was on a Friday and I had to go to school so I wasn't able to make it the best that I could, but I still just loved the cake. And for my mom I wanted to make the cake so that it would be just what I wanted, even though she tried to get me to just let her make the cake. I do want to thank her though she was tons of help, as she always is when I make a cake. By the way be ready I am about to attempt to make a pig cake, so we will see if it is good or if I make a fool of myself. If any of you would like a cake you can just email me or call me at 243-2944 and I will try and work it out. Just give me a couple weeks notice and until school gets out I will have to only do cakes on the weekends. Thanks!!

SECRET RECIPE

I have been making these cookies for about 4 years. I don't know why, but people seem to love them. They are just the good old chocolate chip. I have had many people ask for the recipe, but I don't share with many. As far as I know I am the only one who has been able to perfect them. I do have to say that they are pretty dang good. They are thick, soft, fluffy and taste great. I got the recipe out of a family cook book, but I perfected it into what I think is the best chocolate chip cookie. If you haven't tried them let me know and I will bring you a batch. :)

Trista's Beautiful Brithday Cake

I made this cake for Trista in November for her birthday. I loved it. It was one of my favorite cakes that I had made. I got the idea from another lady on her website, though it was much larger than the one that I made. I used the same colors that she did and they same design just fiewer tiers and layers. This cake was fairly simple and I really had a blast doing it. It turned out great and the cake that was inside was very, very good. I cut the petals for the flowers by hand without any cutters. I used frosting for the centers of my cakes. And the small petals around the edge of the tiers I used a cutter for. Overall the cake was a joy to make and decorate.

MY FIRST SALE!!

Sheridan took this picture! Thanks Sheridan!

I haven't been on for a while, but I'm back.

This past year in December I was able to make my first cake sale. It went really well and I figured it was since it was only to some family friends. I made a cake for a little girl who was turning one. I made a big three tier cake and one small two layer cake. It was actually fairly simple, and I was glad. I was also late delivering it so that was kinda imbarrasing, but at least they weren't mad about it. It was pink and brown and has turned out to be one of my cakes that people like the most. I loved the cake and thought that I did a pretty good job with it. I will say that coloring the brown fondant was very hard, but I was able to pull it off. I was payed sixty-five dollars for this cake. I was really excited about that and that I actually was able to get some buisness. I think that they liked it and I know that I did. I hope that there are many more cakes to come that I can sell. That would ba a dream come true to me and make my day! I hope you liked it Chandler!!

My 1st two tier cake!!

This past year in November I made my first two tier cake. I made it for a church thing and everyone loved it. It was kinda hard to cut the cake, but I did and everyone thought that it was really good! It turned out cut though it gave me many troubles. I had to redo the fondant like 3 times and it was really irritating me, but I pulled it off. I hope that you like it!

Scrumptious Symphony Brownies

This is a recipie of my favorite brownies and they are very simple to make. This is my recipie even though it is nothing I had to really work at!

*Buy any brownie mix at the store that is your favorite.(I use Garidelli: Double Chocolate)

*Make the mix by its instruction.

*Pour half of the mix into an 8x8 greased pan.

*Place two large Hershey Symphony bars (or your favorite large candy bar) side by side in the pan on top of the batter.

*Pour the rest of your batter over the Symphony bars.

*Make sure that you have covered all of the candy bars.

*Bake for about 5-7 min. more than the mix says.

*Let the brownies cool completely, cut and enjoy!

CUTE, BUT SIMPLE CAKES

I will tell you about making a theme or animal cake that is so simple. I made this "Lady Bug" for a baby shower last year. I just made a three layer, one tier, round cake. It was really very simple, but turned out very, very cute. I covered it with red fondant. Then i cut out the black fondant circles. I cut a black semi-circle and two white round eyes. I then cut one black line the diameter of the cake from the semi-circle. I rolled balls for the bottom and delivered the cake. I also rolled two larger black balls and bent two wires around a pencil for the antennas. The cake was a chocolate cake with almond filling and almond butter cream frosting. It tasted great and looked simply adorable. This was only my third cake and turned out great! This cake took about 4-5 hours start to finish.

MY FIRST CAKE!

This is the first cake that I had ever made. I made this last year in October of 2008. I hope to someday be good enough to open a shop, but with the econonmy the way it is I am afraid that it will never happen. These cakes look very hard to some people, but I find them very simple to make. I find that sometimes it is not always the cheapest hobby, but I love to do it. Now I am getting good enough to get to sell some of them that I make. I sell them mostly for cost so I am not making anything yet, but soon I hope it will take off!
